Recipe for Tomato Sauce:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the onion and garlic and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper to the saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
- Use an immersion blender to blend the sauce until it is smooth, or transfer it to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
- Use the sauce immediately, or let it cool and store it in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
